याद है मुझे आज भी बचपन की बात !!
जब दादा जी अपने कंधो पर चढ़ाए रखते थे !!
और दादी अपनी गोद से उतरने नहीं देती थी !!

When grandfather used to put it on his shoulders!!
And grandma didn’t let me get off her lap!!
उन्हें अपनी मृत्यु की जरा भी फ़िक्र नहीं होती !!
इतनी उम्र होने के बाद उन्हें फ़िक्र होती है !!
तो बस अपने पोते-पोती की होती है !!
They don’t care about their death at all!!
After being so old, they are worried!!
So it’s just for our grandchildren!!
आँगन में हमारे उनकी कृपा बरस रही है !!
मेरी दादा दादी के होने से अँधेरे में भी !!
सारे घर में रोशनी झलक रही है !!

याद बहुत आता है मुझे बचपन का ज़माना !!

उन की हर आहट पास बुलाती है मुझे !!
मम्मा पापा तो बहुत प्यार करते हैं मगर !!
दादाजी के प्यार की कमी खलती है मुझे !!

Their every sound calls me near!!

दादाजी होते तो मुझे ख़ूब कहानियाँ सुनाते !!
हम दोनों कागज़ की पानी में कश्तियाँ चलाते !!
कहीं से गर लौट आते मेरे दादा जी तो हम !!
उन्हें उनकी दी हुई सारी निशानियाँ दिखाते !!

मेरे लिए भगवान से भी लड़ जाते थे !!
कौन मेरे दादा की कमी पूरी करेगा !!
Dada has gone far away, who will do less distance!!
Who will fulfill my unfulfilled wish!!
Used to fight even with God for me!!
Who will fill the gap of my grandfather!!
हाथ पकड़कर दादा ने मुझे चलना सिखाया !!
हर कठिनाइयों में मुझे संभलना सिखाया !!
शायद मुझे अकेला छोड़कर जाना ही था उनको !!
इसीलिए तूफ़ानों से अकेले टकराना सिखाया !!
Grandfather taught me to walk by holding hands!!
Taught me to handle every difficulty!!
Maybe they had to leave me alone!!
That’s why taught to hit the storms alone!!
दादाजी की याद आते ही टूट जाता हूँ मैं !!
भीड़ में भी अकेला सा छूट जाता हूँ मैं !!
मनाने अब आएँगे नहीं दादा जी फिर भी सोचता हूँ !!
